Basic Monitoring and Evaluation Concepts. Monitoring and Evaluation, what is it? when you look around you, there are alot of projects being implemented, and these projects are funded in order to achieve a certain objective in a given period of time. When you undertake monitoring and evaluation activities you simple want to learn and take corrective action. Most of all, you want to be able to know, whether your intervention, has actually achieved the intended results. Monitring and Evaluation is comprised of two words namely;

Monitoring;
A continuous intervention undertaken in order to regularly track whether planned activities are indeed being done and if not, take corrective action.

Evaluation;
This is an in-depth assessment done in order to know whether indeed change has happened whether positive or negative.
