The Quantum Vacuum Fluctuations:

For the better part of a century, scientists and engineers have known that any “vacuum” is not actually a vacuum, in other words, it is not empty as once thought. Even when all matter is removed from a chamber, a field of energy remains, humming with energies just above absolute zero.

This energy field, known as the “quantum vacuum field” or simply the quantum vacuum, forms a background against which we measure all other energies. As a result, in comparison when measuring all other energies, this field appears to have an energy of zero.
