-(으)면
If
-(으)면 is the conditional ending. The subject of the -(으)면 clause, if different from that of the main clause, usually takes the particle -이/가. If booth subjects are the same, the particle of the subject of the –(으)면 clause is -은/는.
1)-면 comes after verb stems ending in a vowel or consonantㄹ
2)-으면 comes after verb stems ending in a consonant (except consonantㄹ)
Ex)
머리가 아프면 이 약을 드세요 If head hurts, eat this medicine
내일 시간이 있으면 갈게요 If I have time tomorrow, I will go
시험에 늦으면 안 돼요 If you are late for test, that is not okay (Don’t be late for test)
여기서 담배 피우면 안 돼요 If you smoke here, that is not okay
