2+2 Does Not Equal 4

Two Plus Two Does Not Equal Four In today's video Cody talks about how two plus two does not equal four in Physical space. Math is an abstraction of reality rather than a physical truth. This can be demonstrated by several experiments and thought experiments.

First, it is shown that certain fruits do not equal other fruits. Then it is explained that an orange does not even equal the same orange due to the passage of time. This is due to the microstates within the orange changing, its position changing, and the orange decaying and losing information over time.

Next, a four-bit computer was built to show how computers add numbers using binary. This is compared to an analog waveform on an oscilloscope. It becomes apparent quickly that the digital representation of four is different than the analog waveform of four. This is actually an important concept when trying to make artificial neurons.

The treachery of images shows that a painting is not an actual object. This is similar to how math is an abstraction rather than a physical truth. The definition of equal is examed and future video topics are discussed.
