Six (6) Basic Food Groups
1. Carbohydrates
2. Proteins
3. Healthy Fats
4. Fibers
5. Vitamins
6. Minerals
Carbohydrates (Starchy foods) need 6-11 servings per day, that is 1 serving = 15 grams or 1 sliced bread
Fibers (Fruits and vegetables) need 2-4 servings per day for fruits and 3-5 servings per day for vegetables.
Proteins need 2-3 servings. Meat and fish 3 ounces or size of the palm or the size of a deck playing card.
Fats, oils and sweets must be consumed in small amount.
