The list of games made in Unreal Engine 5 that are releasing with performance-related problems has grown extensive: Black Myth: Wukong, Silent Hill 2, Stalker 2, Tekken 8, Frostpunk 2, The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered, and ARK: Survival Ascended all harbor in-play stuttering, frame rate drops, input lag, bugs, and various other game breaking problems.
There’s evidence pointing to games such as these releasing in unoptimized states, with post-release fixes – something which has been commonplace for years now – being the solution developers are relying on, especially when resolving the complex issues presented by UE5.
Unreal Engine 5 creators Epic, for their part, have outlined problems and proposed solutions to shader rendering, with the complexity of modern games leading to stuttering as hardware struggles to deal with the millions of processes happening millisecond by millisecond under the hood.
